How the coach counts it
What is “caught alone” in Dota 2?
The enemy started the fight on you while your nearest ally was far away. Your team came to help, but the fight began on the enemy's terms and was lost.
How does the coach find this mistake?
The coach checks where your allies stood 3 seconds before the first damage on you. Nobody nearby and at least two deaths for your team means you were caught alone.
Why does “caught alone” cost games?
Catching one hero gives the enemy a free start: the first death, ultimates used and a numbers advantage before your team arrives.
How it differs from similar mistakes
- Death without information
Caught alone: the coach looks at your allies. Nobody was near you 3 seconds before the first hit, and your team lost two or more heroes. Death without info: the coach looks at vision, nobody saw the killers before the fight.
- Caught while smoked
Caught alone: enemies opened the fight on you while you had no allies nearby. Caught in smoke: your group moved under Smoke of Deceit and lost more heroes than it killed.
