How to fix “died on a rotation”?
- 1Before rotating, check whether the enemies on the target lane are visible and where their supports are.
- 2Ping your allies on that lane in advance so you start the fight together, not alone.
- 3Come in from the fog with a rune or a smoke, not along the river in front of wards.
- 4If the enemies on that lane go missing, cancel: they may be waiting for you there.

How the coach counts it
What is “died on a rotation” in Dota 2?
You went to another lane for a kill but walked into enemies who were ready, or started the fight without the allies from that lane. The rotation ended with your death, and your own lane had nobody the whole time.
How does the coach find this mistake?
The coach looks at laning after the first minute: 8 seconds in a row on another lane counts as a rotation. If during it and 10 seconds after you died and did not damage any enemy who died, the rotation failed.
Why does “died on a rotation” cost games?
A failed rotation costs twice: the enemy gets gold for your death, and you lose experience and creeps on your own lane. Your lane opponent pulls ahead while you walk back from base.
