Version 0.6: the coach answers right in the match

Highground Live got a coach on Alt+Q, a match plan, a home window with your week and records, enemies in the draft and a Roshan timer; hero pages got a cheat sheet, and the site stopped re-reviewing the same games.

The coach in game on Alt+Q

Press Alt+Q during a match and a question field opens over Dota. Type your own question, like "enemies are PA and Lion, what do I build?", or press 1–4 to pick a ready question for the current moment. Enter sends it and puts you straight back into the game. The answer, one or two sentences, appears on the side with your question on top.

The same coach that writes your review and talks with you in the chat after the match answers here. It knows the patch, the meta and pro builds, checks matchups against the heroes you named, and remembers your repeated mistakes from past reviews. While it thinks you see a line like "checking matchups against Lion…", then the text appears as it types. It remembers the conversation until the match ends, so you can ask follow-ups. If you wait for respawn longer than 20 seconds, the coach gives one tip on its own, at most four per match.

Match plan and records

At the start of a match the overlay shows a plan: when your past games on this hero say your key item should be ready, which mistake to avoid and a goal for the game. During the match the overlay tracks the goal, and at the end it shows whether you hit it and your new personal records. You can save the match summary as a "Share" card.

Home window

The home window opens on launch and from the tray icon. It shows your week or month against your own norm for GPM, deaths and win rate, your form over the last 10 games, your streak of completed goals and the goal for the next game. It also has your recent games, records for the period and hint settings. While Dota sits in the main menu, a panel on the left shows your week, the goal and the norms of your last hero, with the evening summary below. After three losses in a row with more deaths each game, the panel suggests a break.

New hints

  • Teleport: the overlay reminds you when you have no scroll.
  • Stash and backpack: the overlay tells you it is time to pick up items or that an active item sits in your backpack.
  • Free ability points: the overlay counts them from your hero level and skill picks and reminds you to spend them.
  • Low HP with nothing to heal.
  • Wisdom runes by the match clock.
  • Last hits: the mini panel shows your pace against your norm at 10:00, and after 25:00 it shows whether you have gold for buyback.

The death card now shows how much gold you gave away, which active items you had ready and how much you are short of your next item. The overlay stays quiet during fights. You pick the hint mode in the panel: "Quiet", "Normal" or "Training". Windows voice can read hints aloud, it is off by default.

Enemies in the draft and a Roshan timer

Press Alt+E in the draft and find an enemy hero by name in English, Russian or by initials. For marked enemies the overlay shows an "Against them" card: icons of the items pro players build against these heroes, and when you usually manage to buy them yourself. The coach on Alt+Q sees the enemies and these items too.

The overlay notices on its own when Roshan dies and the Aegis is picked up. A timer runs in the mini panel, and hints come 30 seconds before the Aegis expires and when Roshan's respawn window opens. If the overlay missed the kill, mark it by hand with Alt+R.

Cheat sheet on the hero page

Under the hero page header there is now a "How to play" cheat sheet: the build by minute, skills and talents, counters with links to their pages, gold norms and common mistakes on this hero. At the bottom a button lets you review your own game.

Small things

  • Before, the site could queue an already reviewed fresh game for review again on every visit. Now we review each game once.
