Highground reviews your Dota 2 matches like a personal coach. You sign in with Steam, pick a match and press "Analyze". A couple of minutes later you get a report: where the game slipped away, what your team saw on the map at that moment and what to do differently.
Why we build it
Dotabuff and OpenDota show KDA, GPM and the item build. They won't tell you why you died at minute 14 or missed the Roshan fight. For that someone has to sit down and watch the replay: who stood where, who was visible, how much gold sat in your pocket.
A human coach charges by the hour for that. We want any player to get a review of their own match.
How a review works
- We download the replay from Valve's servers. Valve keeps replays for about 90 days.
- The parser breaks the replay down second by second: hero positions, health, vision, items, gold.
- Twenty detectors look for the moments that decided the game: a death without information, a missed fight, unspent gold, a late item, farming without vision. We calibrated the thresholds on 150 Immortal-level matches.
- The coach model takes these facts and writes a plain-language report from them: what happened and what to do next game. Every point cites a fact from the replay, and a validator checks the report against the review.
Code counts what happened. The coach explains the mistake and what to do next time.
What already works
- The coach report for a match and a chat with the coach about that match.
- Moments on the map. The "what you saw" fog shows enemies your team couldn't see at that moment.
- Metric progress from match to match and pages for your heroes.
- Public hero pages and a common mistakes guide with shares by rank.
- The coach reviews Turbo matches the same way as regular ones.
What's next
We are running an open beta. Here we will write about every update, how the beta goes and what we see in reviewed matches: which mistakes come up most, how ranks differ, what a patch changed.
