How the coach counts it
What is “slow farm” in Dota 2?
In a stretch of the game you were alive, free and not rushing anywhere, yet gold came in slowly: creeps were left unkilled, camps sat empty and you walked between them.
How does the coach find this mistake?
The coach splits the game into 5-minute windows and takes the ones where you mostly farmed. Income in each window is compared with your best window in the same match: below about 60% of it is slow. The threshold is checked against Immortal players. Windows where you were dead or fighting do not count.
Why does “slow farm” cost games?
For carries and mids slow farm pushes every timing back; for supports it delays wards and saves. Being 1000 gold behind at minute 20 almost always shows in the fight.
