How the coach counts it
What is “late key items” in Dota 2?
Your key items (over 1800 gold) arrived noticeably later than professional players build them on the same hero. At least two items were compared with the benchmark and the gap is consistent.
How does the coach find this mistake?
The coach takes the pros' median purchase minute for each key item on the hero and compares it with yours. 6+ minutes behind is late, 12+ is critical.
Why does “late key items” cost games?
A hero is strongest once its key item is done. A late timing means you enter fights weaker than you could, and your hero's window closes earlier.
